Across the country there are hundreds of quaint chocolate box villages and historic market towns full of character. These destinations draw visitors from far and wide with cosy tea rooms, welcoming pubs and beautiful green spaces.
To find the best inland towns and villages to visit, consumer group Which? surveyed more than 9,000 members and asked them to rate destinations on various factors including scenery and tourist attractions.
Several of those in the top ten are are within easy reach of Greater Manchester, but among them is one place which is rather unique.
