An 'underrated' town that sits on the edge of the Lake District has been named the country's most affordable place to live and work in 2025, according to a new report by The Telegraph.
To the south of Cumbria lies Barrow-in-Furness, a port town which not only boasts cheaper-than-average house prices, above-average salaries and a low cost of living, but locals and estate agents say it's a hidden gem.
Barrow’s average salary of £37,962 is slightly higher than the national standard of £37,430, whilst house prices fall drastically below the UK average of £293,000 at just £185,073.
Telegraph Money analysed national data comparing average house prices, average earnings, food and energy bills and commuting costs for “travel to work areas” (TTWA) across England and Wales.
