A former takeaway owner has been fined more than £2,000 after mouse droppings were found throughout his restaurant. Syed Sadek Ahmed, 52, the former owner of Nandini Restaurant on Manchester Road, Oldham appeared at Tameside Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to seven food safety and hygiene offences.

Ahmed, of Cheviot Avenue, Oldham was taken to court after food hygiene inspectors found his takeaway covered in mouse droppings during two inspections on July 26 and August 22 last year.

Prosecutor Sumayya Rawat told the court an environmental health officer from Oldham council first visited Nandini Restaurant on July 26.

The officer introduced herself to the staff and immediately went into the kitchen to wash her hands, but discovered there was no soap or drying facilities.
