It has become the epicentre of one of the most bizarre election campaigns in recent history. George Galloway announced in late January he would be running as a candidate in the Rochdale by-election.
He packed his fedora, headed for Greater Manchester and found an unlikely place to set up base. The team at MK Automobiles usually welcome drivers looking for a new motor at the Suzuki and Subaru dealership, on Crawford Street.
With the by-election looming, Team Galloway arrived. The Workers Party of Britain campaign machine used one of the MK units on the industrial estate where the business is based. Last night (Friday), for a victory rally, the business was the scene of both jubilation and indignation - as supporters cheered Rochdale's new MP and told reporters who challenged him to 'get out'.
