Although mermaids might conjure up images of long, flowing, low-maintenance waves, it seems the actual cost of turning actress Halle Bailey into one was a little more on the expensive side.
For the actress’ appearance as Ariel in Disney’s hit live action remake of The Little Mermaid, hairstylist Camille Friend revealed the true cost of getting those mermaid-worthy waves, and you could buy a house for the price.
The total cost of Halle’s Ariel hair, Camille revealed, was a jaw-dropping $150,000, or £120,745.50. Ok so it might not buy you a house in London, but in the rest of the UK, you could probably get yourself a pretty hefty chunk of one paid off with the cost of Halle’s flowing mermaid locks.
Camille told Variety: "I'm not guesstimating, but we probably spent at least $150,000 because we had to redo it and take it out." The staggering cost came from the intricate process Camille used to turn Halle’s hair into Ariel’s signature red shade, without damaging the actress’ actual hair.
