Sources tell Deadline that Colman Domingo is set to play the host of the world’s most dangerous game show. The new film, based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King that he published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, also has cast that includes Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian and Daniel Ezra and a November 7, 2025 release date.
The Running Man was turned into a 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. A chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025, the story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in violent reality show called The Running Man to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter.
The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. While Schwarzenegger was the star, his game-show host counterpart in the film, played by Richard Dawson, stole their scenes.
