Queen Elizabeth II 's record-breaking 70-year reign has come to an end after her death aged 96. Now, the UK is set to enter a period of national mourning following the passing of the Queen.
A statement released by Buckingham Palace read: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." One of many things that is set to change across the UK is the rules surrounding flags.
Flags will fly at half mast on UK Government buildings in tribute to the Queen from now until the morning after her funeral.
Following the Queen’s death on Thursday, guidance was issued by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on the flying of official flags.
