‘The Residence’ Pays Tribute To Andre Braugher

Andre Braugher was set to star in Netflix’s murder mystery comedy The Residence before his death. The Homicide: Life on the Street star was cast in the Uzo Aduba-fronted series in February 2023 and died in December 2023 of lung cancer.

While he had filmed a number of episodes of the series, which comes from Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, he was not able to complete production before he passed away.

He was set to play White House Chief Usher A.B Wynter, who is wrapped up in a mystery in the White House that must be solved by Aduba’s detective Cordelia Cupp.

The show has paid tribute to Braugher with a card memorializing him at the end of the eight-part season. Susan Kelechi Watson, who plays Jasmine Haney, a White House assistant usher, and creator Paul William Davies, have also paid tribute to the late star. “It was a tough thing that happened to us, to the world, to Andre’s family; tough is an understatement.
