A trade expert has revealed a lesser known sign in the ears that deadly carbon monoxide could be filling our homes.The poisonous gas, which can be produced by fires and appliances such as boilers which burn gas, poses a serious risk to health and can even be fatal.
And it can often go undetected due to its odourless, colourless and tasteless properties - making it even more important to be aware of the signs of an incident.While many of the common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning can also be linked to other common illnesses, sudden hearing loss is one of the rarer ones.
In one case, a 38-year-old woman sought medical help after four months of suffering vertigo and hearing loss, and carbon monoxide was found leaking from her gas fire during a routine check.
After disconnecting the fault apparatus, her symptoms disappeared.Ricky Sharma, director of leading trades training experts Engineering Real Results, said: "Carbon monoxide (CO) can kill within a matter of minutes and it is often dubbed ‘The Silent Killer’ as we can’t see, smell or taste it.
