Princess Eugenie was diagnosed with scoliosis – a condition in which a person’s spine is curved – just before her teenage years, and underwent surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 2002.
She had two 12-inch titanium rods placed in her back in an operation that took eight hours, leaving her in intensive care for the days.
So for her wedding day in October 2018, the late Queen’s granddaughter thought it was important to opt for a gown that didn't hide the scar from the spinal operation she had when she was 12 years old.
