Stalybridge is set to be transformed beyond all recognition. Town hall bosses have devised a £6.1m vision for the Tameside town.
Bosses say the centre of the neighbourhood is tired, lacks natural green spaces and is dominated by cars. The rejuvenation of Stalybridge would embrace the town's history.
Built on woodland, its past would be enshrined with a 'green loop' that would connect the four parks in the area. The walking and cycling routes would capitalise on the canal network, running alongside waterways where possible. The roads in the area are set for a massive overhaul. There will be a main road surrounding the town and a smaller, town centre circulation route to minimise.
