The One Show's Alex Jones blames husband for not being able to buy Mary Berry's house

The One Show host Alex Jones has spilled the beans on why she and her husband Charlie Thomson decided not to buy Mary Berry's house.The couple had previously viewed the famous food writer and former Bake Off star's home, but ultimately decided it wasn't for them.

Chatting on the White Wine Question Time podcast with Kate Thornton, Alex described the house as "lovely" but explained that its layout was not suitable for her tall husband.

She told Kate that the house was essentially two different styles merged into one, with one part being quite cottage-like.This proved problematic for Charlie, who stands nearly six foot three.

Alex likened him to Roald Dahl's character, the BFG, in a Polly Pocket house. Alex said: "We didn't buy it, right? But, I'll tell you, it's a lovely house but it's like two houses that are quite different styles that have been knocked into one. "And in one part, it was quite cottage-y - really nice but Charlie is like nearly six foot three and no; he looked like..." to which Kate suggested that it was the "land of the giants".
