Well, Big Santa has come down, and Christmas in Manchester is officially over. Until next time. Like many, I’m a bit of a January hater, but perhaps my favourite thing about the month is the wealth of food and drink offers around.

In a tough month for the industry, restaurants and bars slash prices to get bums on seats - and it definitely works for me. Half price food?

I’ll be there. Two for one cocktails? Don’t need to ask me twice. But for some, the start of the new year has spelled the end.

There has been sad news today as another iconic Northern Quarter venue has closed for good. Black Dog Ballroom has had its signs and entrance boarded up, and the closure has been confirmed on the venue’s website.
