A man is to undergo a huge challenge by running seven ultra-marathons in seven days to raise money for charity. Joe Wharton, 29, will take on the epic week-long challenge in aid of Testicular Cancer UK after he witnessed the work they do firsthand.

Ten years ago one of his friends was diagnosed with testicular and the charity was there to help provide all the support they needed.

Joe, who live in Miles Platting, said: "The charity was really beneficial. It allowed him to connect with other cancer survivors and gave him an open space to talk about it." Writing on his JustGiving page Joe added: "The reason I have chosen Testicular Cancer UK is because my best friend was affected by this disease and I have seen firsthand, not only the impact it has had on his life but also the support and guidance this fantastic charity offered him during and after his battle. "It provided him with a support network through like-minded survivors, information and knowledge that may ordinarily be difficult to gather through the NHS." Joe, who describes himself as a 'keen runner' will begin his challenge on Monday, February 26, and run 28.5 miles a day - ultimately leading to him running 200 miles over the week.

He will run seven different routes throughout Manchester, including through Salford, Altrincham and Stockport and do some of the runs before he starts work.
