The Indian restaurant tucked within historic Manchester spot named one of the country's best

One of Manchester’s most popular Indian restaurants has been named as one of the country’s best in a prestigious list. The British Indian Good Food Guide has unveiled its top 20 Indian restaurants across the UK, which aims to capture the vast and varied selection of authentic South Asian food available to order in the country.

Leading the list was the Raval Indian Brasserie and Bar in Newcastle Gateshead, which was praised for its ‘unique blend of spices and ingredients’ as well as its contribution in ‘the resurgence of the North East’s culinary scene’. READ MORE: Bid to turn Stockport Pyramid into a huge curry house set to take huge step forward London was represented in second and third place, with the Michelin-starred Quilon coming in runner-up position and Benares Restaurant & Bar nabbing the bronze on the list for its fine-dining mix of Indian and British cuisines.

But just narrowly missing out on a top three spot was Manchester’s own Dishoom. Situated in Spinningfields and neatly tucked away within the historic Freemasons’ Hall, designed in 1929 by architect Percy Scott Worthington, the restaurant has been a part of the city since 2018.

Situated within the Beaux-Arts-style building on Bridge Street, Dishoom serves ‘nostalgic Irani fare’ with its menu spanning through breakfasts, street food delicacies, grills, curries, small plates and desserts.
