They are not for the faint-hearted: the homes where notorious killers were living when grisly murders took place. But for some buyers it's an opportunity to nab a bargain as they sell for lower than market price as a result of their past history.

From notorious killer Dennis Nilsen's attic flat in Muswell Hill, north London, which was bought by a couple four years ago for the relatively cheap price (for the capital) of £493,000.

It had a horrible past but the buyers were untroubled by the fact the monster had hacked up three young men in the flat three decades earlier and clogged up the drains with body parts.

Once he'd finished his killings, the former police officer would coolly sit on his sofa with the corpse next to him watching
