Spring is upon us, bringing with it longer days and, hopefully, better weather. After months of hunkering down inside, it’s a chance to get back outside and out into nature as it wakes from its wintry slumber.
To help Greater Manchester residents explore the countryside on their doorstep, a new walking trail spanning a distance of 300km has been created which passes through all 10 boroughs.
The GM Ringway takes walkers through a range of landscapes, from rugged moorland to magical woodland. Along the way it passes more than 40 Grade I and II*-listings, including Stockport’s Bramhall Hall, 13 accredited museums and 14 scheduled ancient monuments, including Blackstone Edge Roman Road in Rochdale.
There are four broad sections to the GM Ringway: the Southern Start-Up, the Exhilarating East, the Noble North and the Western Wind-Down, with each section being split up into five one-day stages. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
