Stockport is set to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee in style with street parties being held across the borough. To date, patriotic residents have lodged nearly 90 applications for road-closure street parties with the council.

Knees ups are taking place everywhere from the Heatons, Bramhall and Cheadle to Romiley, Offerton and High Lane. The festivities, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne, will take place from Thursday June 2 through to Sunday, June 5.

It’s not just at street parties where the jubilee celebrations go with a swing, however. With less than two weeks to go until celebrations erupt across the country, Stockport has plenty of events lined up to mark the milestone anniversary.
