A number of events across the country have been cancelled or postponed as the nation mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The monarch died at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon, aged 96. In a statement confirming her death Buckingham Palace wrote: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." Her son Charles III has now been named King.
In a statement released shortly after news of her death was announced, Charles III said: "Charles, the King, said: "The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family."
