The eight best places to live in Scotland in 2024
dailyrecord.co.ukA seaside town in East Lothian has been crowned the best place to live in the whole of the UK - with several other fabulous Scots locations making the list too.North Berwick nabbed the number one spot in the comprehensive list released by The Sunday Times, making it the first ever Scottish location to take the crown in the 12-year history of Best Places to Live rankings.Expert judges paid a visit to each of the locations, using factors like schools, houses, culture, shopping and broadband speed to determine how good it would be to live there.
This year, more places than ever made their debut on the list of 72 locations, all boasting a unique and admirable sense of community.According to the judges, North Berwick was crowned due to its combination of a great high street, a great school, the great outdoors and family-friendly houses, as well as its easy connections to Edinburgh.
Two picturesque beaches and a wealth of thriving independent shops and businesses also impressed the panel. But the seaside town wasn't the only Scots location to make the list.
Seven more were included this year, from areas in Dundee and Glasgow all the way up to the Inner Hebrides. Here we've taken a look at each of the remaining Scottish destinations on the list and what makes them such great places to live.
