‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel Scripted By Aline Brosh McKenna In Early Development At Disney
deadline.comAfter scripting the beloved fashion-world dramedy The Devil Wears Prada, starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, which grossed over $326 million worldwide in its June 2006 debut, Aline Brosh McKenna has been tapped to script a sequel in early development at Disney, sources have confirmed to Deadline.
Reps for the studio declined comment. Who from the original cast will return is not yet clear. (It should be noted that in an interview with E!
News just a few months back, Hathaway expressed skepticism that “a continuation of that story” was “ever gonna happen.”) The original film’s director, David Frankel, is in talks to return, we’re told — and original producer Wendy Finerman will be back, as well.
Released by 20th Century Fox ahead of Disney’s acquisition of the studio, The Devil Wears Prada is based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name.
