The Crown suffers awkward blunder in Royal Variety Show mix-up

The constant fact-checking that comes with making The Crown is probably just as complicated as the royal family itself. But the Netflix series may have just fell victim to one of its most obvious blunders when portraying the Queen at a Royal Variety Performance for the upcoming fourth series.

During recent filming, a blue poster for the performance at the Lyceum Theatre in London dated it as 1984. However, the Queen – portrayed by Olivia Colman in the drama – didn’t appear to attend the event at all that year.

In fact, the Queen Mother, Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales were the attendees on behalf of the family.
