According to recent research, there's a staggering £14 billion worth of unused items in most UK homes.Astonishingly, over 100 million old mobile phones are collecting dust in our homes - that's a lot of money just waiting to be cashed in.

A study by mobile phone company Giffgaff, as reported by the Express, also found Brits have at least two discarded handsets in their bins and only 57 percent of these are actually broken or faulty. On the back of their own research, the company is now urging people to turn their forgotten tech into cash.

The average trade-in value of an old mobile on Giffgaff is £133. That means each household could potentially have over £500 worth of unused gadgets.Ash Schofield, who leads Giffgaff, said: "Our research shows that people are sitting on a significant amount of cash, at a time when finances are being hit hard.

I would urge everyone to do what they can to get the maximum lifetime out of their phone. It's good for your pocket and importantly the environment."Giffgaff has urged people to find out how much your phone could be worth.
