After breaking out with 2019’s The Climb, an acclaimed indie dramedy snapped up by Sony Pictures Classics after world premiering at Cannes, Michael Angelo Covino has closed to deal to direct and star in Splitsville, a new comedy for Neon and Topic Studios.
Others in the cast will include Dakota Johnson (Daddio), Adria Arjona (Hit Man), and Covino’s fellow writer, producer and star of The Climb, Kyle Marvin, with whom he wrote the script.
The project reunites Neon and Topic Studios following their work together on Infinity Pool, the sci-fi horror pic from Brandon Cronenberg, which marked Neon’s first in-house production set for theatrical release.
Splitsville picks up with Ashley (Arjona) asking for a divorce, watching as the good-natured Carey (Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), for support.
