A huge sinkhole in Cheshire still waiting to be repaired after nearly two years now has rats living in it and a tree growing out of it, frustrated local residents say.

The ‘crater’ on Hobson Street in Macclesfield, which is said to measure around 30ft by 15ft, first appeared as a small hole in early 2020 seeing the road near South Park, just south of the town centre, shut off.

Since then it has steadily grown and also began sprouting tomato plants earlier this year.
