East Lancashire Railway is offering a festive spin to its services over Christmas and New Year - and there’s still time to book tickets.

The heritage train service will operate on selected dates in the Twixmas period, and into January. Passengers can ride on a steam train for 12 miles through the scenic Irwell Valley, with seven stops along the way.

One magical way to spend Boxing Day is with a ride on a steam train, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful countryside from the comfort of your carriage.

To add some cheer to the journey, ELR is offering every visitor travelling on the train a mince pie (while stocks last). Then on New Year's Day, ELR is offering a free whiskey chaser for any adult who purchases a hot drink on board (limited to one per customer while stocks last).
