Under-fire Philippe Clement believes Rangers’ Premier Sports Cup semi-final triumph can be a massive moment for his stuttering side - so long as they continue to show yesterday’s Hampden heart.

The Belgian boss led his holders out at the National Stadium knowing defeat to Motherwell would have all but spelled the end of his Rangers reign.

He was left teetering on the brink at half-time as former Ibrox hero Andy Halliday rammed the Steelemen ahead. But the gutsy Gers mounted a second-half fight-back to ease the pressure on their beleaguered boss and set-up a December 15 final showdown against Celtic.It wasn’t pretty but goals from Cyriel Dessers and Nedim Bajrami got the job done - and Clement wants to see that spirit replicated from here on out.
