Moorgate Primary School, in Bolton, is the most oversubscribed primary school in all of Greater Manchester - with less than half of the parents and guardians who put it down as first choice securing a place.

But it's just one of a number of outstanding primary schools in Bolton. If your child is already at school, you're no doubt fully aware of the Ofsted grading system.

All schools are graded on a four-point scale, from grade 1 (outstanding), 2 (good), 3 (requires improvement) and 4 (inadequate).

Despite recent calls for the one-word gradings to be scrapped, the education watchdog says they will remain, with its chief inspector Amanda Spielman describing them as 'integral' to the wider school system.
