But here in Manchester, it's also about the new restaurants and bars that are making hay whilst the sun shines and opening the doors for the first time.
Last month we were spoilt for choice as we welcomed new players including affordable steak house Flat Iron; a new deli tucked away in a hidden Ancoats courtyard; and a huge new Korean supermarket attracting day-long queues in the Arndale.
And while many will be away on their holidays, those sticking around are going to be treated to even more food and drink options.
