After wowing crowds around the world in cities like Rome, Paris, Milan, New York, and Miami, the critically acclaimed Balloon Museum has brought its “Let’s Fly” exhibit to Los Angeles.
Visitors can fully immerse themselves in this interactive world of balloon-inspired contemporary art – perfect for getting up close, hands-on, and Insta-ready. “‘Let’s Fly’ is all about giving people an experience that’s surreal, magical, and unlike anything they’ll find elsewhere,” says Roberto Fantauzzi, president of Lux Holding, which produced the project. “The Arts District in LA felt like the perfect next stop, and we’re so excited to bring Balloon Museum to such a creative community.” Keep reading to find out more… Hosted at the iconic Ace Mission Studios in Boyle Heights, the exhibit features installations from 21 incredible artists, including Filthy Luker, Tadao Cern, MyeongBeom Kim, and Ouchhh.
Plus, the LA show debuts Mariposa, an LED-lit life-size butterfly by artist Christopher Schardt, fresh from its 2023 premiere at Burning Man and aglow with over 39,000 full-color LEDs.
Schardt’s LED creations have also wowed at The Smithsonian, Hudson Yards, and Dubai’s 2020 World’s Fair. Each Balloon Museum location has its own unique vibe, influenced by local art and culture while connecting every piece through a central medium: air.
