In the past, the royal was open about his decision to change things up in regards to the traditional proposal 'rule'. "Well, I was torn between asking Kate's dad first and then the realisation that he might actually say 'no' dawned upon me," the future king said in an interview with Tom Bradby. "So I thought, 'If I ask Kate first, then he can't really say no'.
