The Academy Launches Formal Investigation Into Will Smith Over Slapping Incident

Smith at last night’s show,” a spokesperson for the organization said, via Variety. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.” It was also reported that The Academy did weigh the option of removing Will from the venue afterwards. Will Packer, the producer, also made a statement about what happened.
