A popular fish and chip shop in Altrincham as received a outpouring of support after announcing its closure after 12 years in business.

Kingfisher Fish & Chips, which is situated between Altrincham Market and the train station, closed its doors for good last week, breaking the news with its customers of social media.

The cafe, which prided itself as having some of the "finest" fresh fish and chips in the town, thanked its valued customers for the "laughs and the smiles", as well support over the last 12 years.

The Trafford chippy shared an image of a sign they placed in the window of the shop on Facebook, which read: "To all our valued customers it is with dad regret we have had to close due to unforeseen circumstances.
