Private consultants to the Test and Trace system in England are being paid £7,500 a day - the equivalent of a £1.5m salary, it was claimed tonight.
Sky News reported the huge rates had gone to some executives at Boston Consulting Group, which was brought in to help the flailing outsourced contact-tracing system earlier this year.
Public documents show BCG has won a string of contracts including a £5m deal to provide "digital support" to Test and Trace between April and July.
Now Sky has obtained further documents, claiming to show the government paid BCG around £10m for a team of around 40 consultants to do four months' work.
