Teletubbies baby reveals name of her first child - and it's a nod to her iconic kids role

Back in January 2024, Jess Smith - who is known for being the sun baby in the iconic children's television show, Teletubbies - announced that she had given birth to her first child with her partner, Ricky.

The couple - who documented the pregnancy on their joint Instagram account - first shared the news they were expecting in October 2023, when Jess posted an early scan photo and wrote: "When two becomes three." After multiple scan posts, a baby shower carousel, and general mum-to-be content, Jess shared the sweetest picture of her newborn daughter's hand wrapped around her finger, alongside the caption: "One whole week of you," followed by a love heart emoji.

While Jess and her partner didn't give away the name of their daughter at first, she has recently revealed the gorgeous title of the youngster.

Which for those who grew up watching Teletubbies, will know is a direct reference to her iconic role on the show. Posting the classic shot of the new father leaving the hospital holding his baby in a carrier, Jess typed: "Please welcome Poppy Rae Latham." Of course, Poppy's middle name Rae is a subtle nod to her sunshine character. "2 very lucky parents," she added, which garnered plenty of comments from Jess' followers, who were quick to congratulate the couple and gush over the name. "Omg what a perfect name," one person penned, while a second said: "She's amazing." "Welcome to the world, Poppy!!!" another fan typed, as a fourth added: "Congratulations to both of you!" Jess was just nine months old when her showbiz journey began.
