A teenager with hopes of being a professional golfer showed he had a great drive - by turning his side hustle on eBay into a multi-million pound company Ben Ewart started a company with just £500 and is now Managing Director of one of the fastest growing distribution firms in the UK, Switch Electronics.

Ben started the business, which sells electrical components, from his bedroom when he was 19. The Hull-based business sells a range of components including sensors, wires and fuses.By 2020, the company had received one million orders from customers, and the 'rapid growth' at the firm led to a number of employees being hired. The Mirror reports he first launched the business in 2013 when he spotted a gap in the market to buy electrical components directly from manufacturers in China and sell them at cheaper prices than UK retailers, including Maplin.

According to Hull Live, the entrepreneur said back in 2020: "I was 19 when I began importing a few bits from China, and selling them on eBay.
