The victim, aged 16, was waiting for a train on April 22 when two other girls walked onto the platform.British Transport Police said that the groups had a "verbal altercation" at Swinton railway station before the two girls then left, Manchester Evening News writes.A short time later, they came back and one of the girls launched an attack on the victim.She struck her in the head then dragged her to the ground.She kicked her in the body and head before dragging her across the platform by her hair then viciously stamping on her head multiple times, officers said.
The attack only stopped when a train driver stepped in to help.A BTP statement said: "At just after 6.30pm on 22 April, the 16-year-old victim was sat with a friend at the station waiting for a train when two other girls entered the station and sat on the same platform."A verbal altercation between the two groups ensued and the two girls left the station."A short while later they returned and one of the girls began attacking the victim.
She repeatedly punched the victim in the head before pulling her to the ground and kicking her body and head."The attack continued as the girl pulled the victim across the platform by her hair and stamped on her head several times."The assault stopped when the driver of an incoming train intervened."
