A teenage boy has been charged in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl who was stabbed to death. Elianne Andam was on her way to school around 8.30am on Wednesday when she was attacked and fatally wounded.Police arrested a 17-year-old boy around 75 minutes after the incident and officers have now confirmed he has been charged with Elianne's murder.As reported in the Mirror, the teenager cannot be named for legal reasons but he is due to appear at the youth court in Croydon Magistrates' Court.
He has also been charged in connection with possessing a knife.Last night, Elianne family visited the scene where she died as crowds gathered outside the police cordon and prayers were said.In a statement this morning, the force said: "A 17-year-old boy will appear in court charged with the murder of 15-year-old Elianne Andam in Croydon.
The teenager, who cannot be name for legal reasons, is due to appear at youth court, sitting at Croydon Magistrates' Court, on Friday, 29 September."He has been charged with murder and possession of a knife.
Police were called to Wellesley Road at approximately 08:30hrs on Wednesday, 27 September to reports of a stabbing. Officers were at the scene within two minutes of the call being received.
