A 17-year-old who murdered Charlie Cosser at an end-of-term party in front of almost 100 horrified teens has been jailed for life.
Yura Varybrus stabbed Charlie three times in the chest at the outdoor event called BalFest, at a farmhouse in Warnham, West Sussex, on July 23 last year.On Wednesday, Judge Christine Henson KC sentenced Varybrus, who was just 16 at the time of the killing, to a minimum of 16 years behind bars.
Varybrus was found guilty of Charlie’s murder earlier in June and was also found guilty of having a bladed article, reports the Mirror.Charlie's heartbroken family members attended court every day, crying and hugging each other as the verdicts were given.
The trial heard a fight broke out between the defendant, Charlie and two other boys on the dancefloor after the defendant and his friends were asked to leave the party.A partygoer captured part of the violence on video as she began filming her friends dancing to the song Toxic by Britney Spears under disco lights in the marquee.
