A teacher with two decades of experience has been ‘indefinitely’ banned from the profession for submitting her own work for a student's GCSE geography assessment.

Gillian Hardman, a teacher at Inscape House School in Cheadle, admitted an exemplar (sample) piece of writing she completed was included in the pupils submission work, which she claimed was an ‘error’.

However, a recent three-day panel hearing held by the Teaching Regulation Agency branded her actions as dishonest and lacking integrity in uncovering further allegations against her.

It was found Ms. Hardman, 40, lied that the student had completed a past paper under exam conditions in February 2021 when in fact she was working remotely from home, CheshireLive reports. Ms Hardman had also told the special educational needs and disabilities school where she was working that the pupil’s work had been moderated before submission deadlines when it hadn’t, and that exam papers had not been stored in “accordance with the guidelines” in a securely locked cupboard.
