After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Taylor Swift is continuing to take ownership of her music and has had fans’ emotions in pieces in the process, with her latest release being This Love (Taylor’s Version). The singer is currently in the process of re-recording her previous albums, as she believes artists should be able to own their work. She began the process after music mogul Scooter Braun bought the ownership to her first six albums – released by her first record label Big Machine Records – back in 2019 for a hefty price of $300million (£237m).Taylor was shocked by the move and accused the businessman of bullying her for years, suggesting he was out to ‘dismantle’ her work. Now, in a bid to take back ownership of her songwriting, the country-turned-pop star has slowly been releasing her old music back into the world, much to the delight of Swifties, since she’s also treated them to previously unheard tracks from ‘The Vault’ and collaborated with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Phoebe Bridgers, and Keith Urban.Taylor first re-released her second platinum-selling album Fearless, before dropping Red last year.It seems her latest treat to her adoring fanbase is music from critically-acclaimed 2014 record 1989, which saw the star venture out into the world of pop for the first time.

The next re-recorded song she’s dropped from the Grammy-winning record is This Love, which Taylor actually started working on back in 2012 and was the first song written for 1989 (named after her birth year). She dropped the track on unassuming fans this Friday, using the trailer for Amazon Prime’s adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty to promote it.Her fans have taken to social media to share that listening to the song feels like a ‘heavenly experience’ and will undoubtedly have them.
