Tatton Park is changing the rules on where dogs are allowed in the grounds of the historic estate. At the moment, dogs are allowed within the parkland and can exercise off lead for most of the year.

Restrictions tighten between May 1 and July 31, when all dogs must be kept on a lead to prevent attacks on animals including deer calves and sheep.

Now bosses have decided that dogs will be allowed inside the formal gardens at the park, so they can explore the 50 acres of formal and landscaped gardens with their owners. A spokesperson said: "This new dog initiative in the gardens, will be trialled across the summer months and will be reviewed at the end of September 2024.
