Tartan Army pay tribute to tragic Scotland supporter during Switzerland clash

Tributes were paid to Scotland supporter Colin King during the match against Switzerland last night.The 57-year-old, from Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, sadly passed away in his sleep during a trip to Germany to support Scotland at the Euros.

Remembered as a "wonderful guy", he was found dead in his bed following a day of sightseeing in Dusseldorf.Requesting fans to celebrate the life of the dad, Colin's grieving family asked the Tartan Army to stand together.

Fans marked his passing with a moving standing ovation in the Cologne Stadium on Wednesday, June 19, reports Glasgow Live.The Scotland National Team X account tweeted: "A tremendous ovation in the stadium from the Scotland fans to remember Colin King, who sadly passed away last week.

Our thoughts are with Colin's loved ones right now."Tributes have flooded in for Colin after news of his passing was revealed on Facebook by his nephew, Christopher O'Rourke.He wrote on The Tartan Army Group: "After the dream of qualification became a reality, and the scramble for tickets and flights, after the disaster that was the opening match, it all feels so unimportant now!"It's with a broken heart and tears streaming down my face I am reporting the loss of our fellow Tartan Army foot soldier Colin King.
