The target of a botched drive-by shooting has been named locally as a cigarette smuggler who headed a £28million crime ring.
Sources say Kamaran Khader, 37, was fired at by a gunman in an SUV in his home town of Greenock on Tuesday evening. The target escaped death by jumping behind a vehicle after being shot at yards from a playpark in a quiet residential street.He was uninjured after the bullet meant for him struck the car he cowered behind.
The thug driving the white Hyundai Tucson sped off towards Greenock town centre, and the vehicle was later found burnt out at a nearby reservoir.
