Great Britain’s first female grand slam winner since Virgina Wade in 1977, Raducanu beat Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3. Supporting the teenager on her way to victory was Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
The striker expressed his delight on social media. Earlier on, Rashford cheekily asked Match of the Day host Gary Linekar do delay the start of the programme as the final entered the final stretch.
