Paul Heaton has looked back on his first-ever festival experience, and described what it was like to perform at Glastonbury before The Housemartins had their huge breakthrough with 1986 single ‘Happy Hour’.The frontman spoke to The Glastonbury Free Press following the gates opening for the 2024 edition yesterday (June 26). In the interview, he reflected on what it was like to perform at the Worthy Park site at the start of his career, and named the newer artists he would enlist for his dream festival line-up.“The Housemartins did Glastonbury back in 1986.

Paul Heaton has added extra dates to his forthcoming UK tour, and confirmed that Lightning Seeds will be joining him as special guests for one of them.The performances will all take place later this year, and come in support of The Housemartins and Beautiful South legend’s new album ‘The Mighty Several’.Set for release on October 11 – and available for pre-order here – the project has been produced by Ian Broudie and follows his 2022 LP ‘N.K-pop‘ with Jacqui Abbott.Originally, the tour dates were set to kick off in Bridlington on November 29, and make stops in Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Newcastle and more, before concluding with two back-to-back shows at London’s Eventim Apollo on December 10 and 11.Now, the tour has been extended as Heaton has added three extra shows to the schedule. These include a stop at the P&J Live venue in Aberdeen on Friday, December 13, and a new gig at the Civic Halls in Wolverhampton.

Paul Heaton has announced his new Ian Broudie-produced album ‘The Mighty Several’ and has shared a new single ‘Fish ‘N’ Chip Supper’.‘The Mighty Several’ is set for release on October 11 – which is available for pre-order here – and follows his 2022 LP ‘N.K-pop‘ with Jacqui Abbott. The Housemartins and Beautiful South legend’s upcoming album was recorded at Blueprint Studios in Salford and was produced by Broudie of the Lightning Seeds.The album is comprised of 12 tracks, with some featuring special guests such as Rianne Downey (Heaton’s regular live vocalist), Yvonne Shelton and Danny Muldoon. The featured artists are all pictured alongside Heaton on the album’s artwork.
