Sources told NME that guitarist Mik Whitnall was at the venue before the show too, but was unable to stay for the gig.As per the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, Doherty gestured to the side of the stage when McConnell and Ficek appeared and played a six-song set that marked a decade since their last performance together.The band played a version of The Libertines’ ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’ before playing hits including ‘Baddie’s Boogie’, ‘Back From The Dead’ and ‘Albion’ before finishing off with ‘Time For Heroes’ and ‘Killamangiro’.McConnell has spent the last decade playing with Liam Gallagher in his touring band.

Pete Doherty has spoken to NME about the five-year anniversary of his record label Strap Originals, the return of Babyshambles and the future of The Libertines.Strap Originals is home to artists such as Trampolene, Real Farmer and Pregoblin, all of whom performed at London’s the 100 Club last Thursday (May 30) as part of a showcase tour around the UK to mark the label’s birthday.Doherty gave a short acoustic performance at the event, which included a surprise appearance from Libertines bandmate Carl Barât. Together they played ‘Run Run Run’, the lead single from their recent Number One album ‘All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade’.He also performed a new song, tentatively titled ‘Pot of Gold’, which is about his daughter Billie-May, who turned one at midnight that night.

Babyshambles drummer and psychotherapist Adam Ficek has shared his new report into music and mental health – telling NME that “musicians keep falling between the cracks of formal structured support systems”.“It’s business, but the product is a human being,” read one quote from a musician in the report. Another: “I was asking myself, ‘OK, am I here because I’m good enough for this? Or am I here because I’m a Black woman and now it’s a trend to have a black woman in a band?'”A third voice from Ficek’s research ultimately concluded that “It might look like I’m just shouting down a microphone.
