System failure saw Sheffield United denied a perfectly good goal against Aston Villa despite the ball crossing the line. Villa keeper Orjan Nyland made a complete mess of an Oliver Norwood free-kick that was whipped into the box, and stumbled back into his own goal.

Relays showed the Norwegian crossed the line completely with the ball in his hands, and Blades players called for goal-line technology to do its job.

But referee Michael Oliver pointed to his watch, as if to say it didn't vibrate to indicate the ball crossed the line, and Nyland took a goal kick.

At half-time Blades boss Chris Wilder went to see the referees for an explanation as to what happened, and it was confirmed that the system wasn't working.
