A man has been charged after a primary school was put on lockdown following reports of a man with a knife. Lilly Lane Primary School on Kenyon Lane in Moston was forced to trigger the emergency measures on Wednesday (January 22).
Armed police were called to the scene at around 3pm. Pictures and videos showed police vehicles arriving on blue lights as crowds of parents waited outside the locked school gates.
Cardell Hamman, 20, has now been charged with possession of a bladed article, attempted assault, and breach of a court order in connection with the incident.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (January 24). In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Cardell Hamman (11/10/2004) of Moss Bank Avenue, Droylsden has been charged with possession of a bladed article, attempted assault and a breach of court order "He has been remanded into custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 24 January)."
