A support worker who caused a Lanarkshire care home resident to bleed after scratching her face has been struck off. Sandra Wright’s actions resulted in four deep lacerations on the resident’s face which bled profusely back in September 2021.
Wright, who worked at Carnbroe Care Centre in Coatbridge, also threw biscuits out of a window after the resident, known as AA, tried to take biscuits from another resident’s plate saying ‘the birds will get them’.

The report states: “In response to a vulnerable resident pulling your hair, you (Wright) retaliated by scratching the resident’s face with your nails. “This resulted in four deep lacerations on the resident’s face which bled profusely.“This behaviour raises concerns about how you react to difficult situations and is at odds with the type of response expected from someone in a professional, caring role.“Your actions caused serious physical harm to the resident and the injury sustained would require a significant level of force to inflict.“This behaviour suggests a disregard for the
